Amman Utd (12) v (22) Gowerton

The Under 13 bandwagon rolls on. Another convincing victory and another entirely convincing performance. Against strong opposition, the boys simply refused to allow Amman any room in which to work. They were in their faces all game and it was only when the frantic pace began to subside in the closing minutes that Amman were able to threaten. But by then it was too late. The game was won and another tick in the “win” column.

Amman started brightly enough, moving the ball around well without ever seriously threatening. The boys were solid in the tackle - Alex J, Josh B and Charlie W all making big hits early on – and there was nowhere for Amman to go before a Rhys D break set up Zac G to go over for the first score.

Gowerton went further ahead after a great Jac S kick was gathered up on the bounce by Josh B who went over to increase the lead.

The boys continued to smother Amman’s attacks. They were competing well in the rucks,  and maintaining a tight defensive line in midfield where Rhys J and Charlie W were doing great work. The ball was finding its way out wide with both Kieran H and Kobe B looking hungry for work and both made the most of opportunities to make progress on the wings.

Before the half another Jac S kick from a solid Gowerton lineout was followed up by Cameron J who went over to make the score 0-17 at the half.

It was more of the same in the second half. Elliot H having a busy game in the second row was returning the ball well and Owen M was having a quietly impressive game in the back row. But it was Alex J who was beginning to influence matters most, both offensively and defensively. Amman were struggling to contain him and after a typically forceful run which led to a Jac S tap and go, the boys increased their lead again.

They continued to batter Amman but it was a turnover in midfield that led to Amman breaking on the wing to get a score back. They doubled their score moments later from a similar position but it was too little too late and after another drive at the end from the powerful Gowerton pack, the game was closed out.

This was another superb team effort and with confidence continuing to grow and a strong team ethic now firmly embedded, there is every reason to hope further success will follow
